Scary Situation!!!
On Wednesday I had to take my sister to airport and we left Waynesburg around 2:45. I was a little annoyed with her because it was a last minute trip and I would have to miss an important meeting, but I was the only one who could take her. As we were driving to the airport we heard the emergency alert for an extreme thunderstorm warning. Well where we were the sky was still blue, but where we heading, right infront of the airport, I could see that the sky was basically black. I didn't think much of it though, because I thought that it wouldn't effect me. My sister, however was freaking out because she was afraid that her plane was going to be delayed. As we got closer and closer to the airport, the weather got worse. There was lighting striking down everywhere and it had started to rain. Once we got to the airport I dropped my sister off, and headed home which I thought was in the opposite direction of the storm. On my way home all was quiet until I reached interstate 79, and that when the storm hit me. I swear I felt like I was driving through a hurricane! I literally could not see the white lines in front of me, it was raining so hard, and I was on top of my dashboard trying to see the road. It was so stressful because there was so many cars on the road and no one could see where they were going! I could barely see the brake lights of the cars around me and the wind was blowing so hard, and it was raining so hard that cars were just stopping on the interstate. I was all by myself, and this was my first experience with horrible weather, so my first thought was to pull off to the side of the road and wait for the storm to pass. My only problem was that I had to cross three lines of traffic and I couldn't see any of the cars around me! I just went for it and tried to judge as best I could, but eventually I got to the shoulder and waited. I was literally shaking I was so scared! I though someone was going o hit my car, or that I would be stuck there. I was just a scary and stressful situation. After ten minutes the rain slowed down enough that I could get back on the interstate, but the whole way home people, including me, were driving with their hazards on, and going 10 miles an hour on the interstate! Once I got home, I called my sister and she told me that the airport had lost power and that she was stuck in the train going to her gate, KARMA! Thankfully though her plane wasn't delayed!
