It Goes Straight to my Short Term Memory
Finals week is coming up, and I have to admit that I do not have the best studying habit. I study the material but it definitely just goes to my short term memory because after the test I cannot remember a thing that I studied. I am determined to do well on my final exams, so I went in search of studying techniques. I wanted a way to study that is not only efficient but interesting. Lets face it studying is officially boring, I just stare at the words and concepts hoping that something will sink in.
In my desperate search I found this and I hope that it works, I am definitely being optimistic.

Here are the tips...
More Interesting, Efficient, and Effective ways to Study

Cartoon Time!
As a Public Relations major we spend a lot of time talking about social media, and how technology has evolved. I'm not a huge cartoon fan because I never understand the jokes. I found this cartoon and I thought it was really cute, and for once it understand the humor:)

OPI Burlesque
This Friday I decided that it was time to get a fill on my nails. I was at the Mall at Robinson and surprisingly got right in, and did not have to sit and wait for thirty minutes like usual. The reason I am writing about this is because I stumbled across the best nail polish colors. OPI is my favorite nail polish even though it's like $9 a bottle, I consider it worth it because it doesn't chip.
I love when they come out with color based off of box office hit movies, like Shrek and Alice in Wonderland. The mad hatter nail polish is still my favorite! Well apparently OPI came out with a line of colors for the Burlesque and they are so pretty. The colors are vibrant and a lot of them are filled with glitter. I got the bright pink nail polish called "Ali's Big Break."
If you are obsessed with nail polish like I am you have to check theses colors out they are gorgeous and there's colors for every girl! :) They discontinue these colors and it can become impossible to find them, so buy them now while there are still here.

What I want for Christmas
For some reason every year, when my parents ask me what I want for Christmas I can never think of anything! Which is strange because I always want something and I love to go shopping. I think that I need to evolve my technology, so i've decided that this year I want an electronic book. I love to read, but going out and finding books to read to so frustrating to me, I mean really how many books do they expect you to sit and read the inside cover to figure out if you want it. Not to mention hardback books are so expensive and I am not patient enough to wait for the book to come out in soft back and save $10.00. So the first thing on my christmas list is the NOOK, and I am so excited. After reading about it i've decided it is the perfect gift this christmas. Now I just have to find one in Pink:)

Starting your Thanksgiving Break off Right
Here is a quote from the very inspirational Audrey Hepburn to start your break off right...
“Pick the day. Enjoy it - to the hilt. The day as it comes. People as they come... The past, I think, has helped me appreciate the present - and I don't want to spoil any of it by fretting about the future.”

Guys CAN Be Very Cheap
No offensive boys, but I think that it true, especially when it comes to large purchases... aka engagement ring.
The standard dollar amount that a man is suppose to spend on their girlfriend's engagement ring is 3 months salary. PERIOD!!! My standard is about 4,200 which I think is completely reasonable, and more than a carat in diamonds.
Just accept it and open up your wallets!!! The girl has to wear thing for the rest of her life, so she had better love it. The bigger the diamond the bigger the Love<3

Fashion Under $100
I love to go shopping, but sometimes I have a hard time shopping for complete outfits and instead I tend to buy seperates. I never knowwhat shoes to buy to go with a top, or what belt will match will an outfit. I am not sure how I stumbled upon this website, but it is my new favort site and solved all of my fashion problems. It is called fashion under a $100. This site is great because it showa you an entire outfit from the shoes to the bag, and the entire outfit is under $100; perfect if your ona budge (which most college students are). It also has a celebrity link that you can click on and look at your favorite celebrity outfits and find the look for cheaper. My favorite celebrity to follow is Rachel Bilson.
The final feature the website has that makes it truley amzing us the links. Every item featured has a link to where you can buy it so you do not have to spend time tracking it down on the web.

'What Not to Wear' Shares the Top 10 Mistakes We Make
I love the show What not to Wear on TLC. I think that Clinton Kelly, and Stacy London are hilarious and have really good tips when it comes to everyday dress, and dressing for work.
I blogged before about my new favorite site lemondrop, and I was on lemondrop this weekend and found this Top 10 story with Clinton Kelly. His top 10 fashion tips are genius and I completely agree, especially with his tip about buying fake handbags.

Winnie the Pooh Funny Exercises
I found this when I was on my Winnie the Pooh escapade on youtube, I remember this song from when I was little and use to watch Winnie the Pooh all the time! It is too cute, and I am officially in love! I now want all of the movies and books, I know it's a weird obsession when your 21.
"you're braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, & smarter than ...
Winnie the Pooh
I think that most of us know the classic disney movie, and the children books that we have grown up on. I was randomly looking at youtube, I know a great way to pass the time. I found this Winnie the Pooh clip that was absolutley adorable. I have decided that I am just going to watch this video when I am upset or in a bad mood because it is so adorable. I think that when we watch these movies as kids we don't really understand parts of them, and after watching this clip now, I get the overall message, and it is so inspirational and comforting.
I know you may be thinking... Its winnie the pooh, seriously?! Just check it out. I now want a sign with this quote,

My First Week with Mya
I have had Mya now for one whole week, and having a puppy is a lot harder than I expected! She literally chews up everything! She has already torn up one of my rugs, and is constantly chewing on my clothes. She is in this habit of chewing people's fingers and toes, and her little baby teeth are like razors when she bites you. I can definitely see my dad's point of college students not having time for a puppy, because she is definitely distracting when I am trying to do homework. I have to keep reminding myself that she is just a baby, she is only nine weeks old. I am trying to train her, but I do not consider her a quick learner. It is hard to have patience with her, but she is so cute that I can not stay mad at her for long, especially when she lets me dress her up in adorable outfits. We are still getting use to each other, and hopefully it will all work out, right now she only weighs 2 pounds!

Writing my first press release
I have not taken the Public Relations Writing and Production scourse yet, so when I was assigned to write a press release for the upcoming student media conference I was nervous. Much to my surprise, I found that writing a press release is not that complicated, especially when you have a script from the press release that was issued for the conference last year. Considering that I am a Public Relations major, and having a job in this field requires writing a lot of press releases, I find it very reasurring that my first experience with writing on was very pleasant and stress free. I hoping that the one's I write from now on will be the same experience, but we will see how that goes when I am not given a script:(

Why I am at School...
After an intense midterm week I feel like I need some inspiration to reming me why I am in college.
Audrey Hepburn puts it into perspective!
“A quality education has the power to transform societies in a single generation, provide children with the protection they need from the hazards of poverty, labor exploitation and disease, and given them the knowledge, skills, and confidence to reach their full potential.”

My new puppy!
I'm getting a new pet, and I am really excited about it! I always wanted one of this teacup puppies that are so small that you can put them in your purse, and carry them around. On Monday, I was searching for available puppies and I stumbled on the cutiest yorkiepoo(half yorkie and half poodle). Her name is Tabby, and she is only going to be 4 pounds fully grown. It was kind of an impulsive buy, but I always wanted a dog and I have to at home so i feel like I am definitely prepared to bring her home! I am going to pick her up on Friday morning in Ohio, and I have to drive 3 hours. She is well worth the drive though because she is so cute, and yes I am definitely going to put outfits on her as corny as the is!
I will post pictures of her as soon as I get her:My dad gave me the whole, "your a college student, your to busy to have a puppy." I determined to prove him wrong!

Photography Mid-term

I choose to mimic the style of Henri Cartier Bresson.
A little bit of background information on him...
He was a french photographer considered by many to be the father of modern photojournalism. He is widely recognized as one of the greatest photographers of the Twentieth Century. His pictures and picture essays have been published in most of the world’s major magazines and his prints have hung in the leading art museums of the United States and Europe. He was also one of the founders and a former president of Magnum, a cooperative picture agency.
He had a very distinct style, and a subtle and sensitive eye for composition. He helped develop street photography, and elevated "snap shooting" to the level of a refined and disciplined art. He had a rare talent and became internationally famous for his uncanny ability to capture life on the run, and significant moments of human interaction.
He is quoted saying, "I prowled the streets all day, feeling very strung-up and ready to pounce, determined to ‘trap’ life, to preserve life in the act of living.”
I found this particularly difficult. I walked around Greene County and tried to take snapshots of people, but they always got irritated with me, or yelled at me wondering why I was "creeping around" taking pictures of them.
Finally, I was able to find a subject willing to let me take a picture of them, and this is what I came up with for my midterm...
My teacher said it was acceptable...lol:)

Commissioning ceremony
In my Cross Cultural Communication class we have to dedicate 10 hours of service to experiencing a different culture. For my hours I am interacting with soldiers and listening to their stories, so that i can have a better understanding of the "Army way of life." We have to keep a journal of our experiences, and I thought that i would post one of my journal entries on here.
On Monday, I had the privilege of witnessing a Commissioning Ceremony, where an ROTC Cadet gets commissioned as 2nd Lt. in the United States Army. Here is my journal entry and my civilian account of the ceremony...
On Monday, I had the privilege of witnessing a Commissioning Ceremony, where an ROTC Cadet gets commissioned as 2nd Lt. in the United States Army. Here is my journal entry and my civilian account of the ceremony...
Today, September 27, 2010, I attended John Matlick’s commissioning ceremony with my service learning partner CPT Robert Prah. Since he also received his commission as a 2nd Lieutenant at Cal U, he always tries to make it at the ceremonies. The first thing done was a color guard, which is where soldiers regardless of rank, carry the American flag, PA state flag and two rifles. I noticed that they all walked in step and moved as one unit, almost flawlessly. They posted the colors and rendered a hand salute to the American flag. During the ceremony COL Ulysses Winn was the guest speaker and read the oath of office for John Matlick. During this all military service members wore the class A’s and must stand at the position of attention as a sign of respect to the new officer. His parents then pinned his Gold Bars distinguishing him a 2LT. MSG Wilkinson then rendered Matlick his first salute, it is a tradition for the first salute to be by the enlisted man that gave you the most training to be an office. In military culture the Lieutenant gives the first enlisted man a coin exemplifying the knowledge he gave throughout training. LTC Bonomo the Assistant Three Rivers Battalion Commander then gave his remarks on the endeavors that Matlick had completed to achieve his rank. Before the end of the ceremony, the color guard then retrieves the Colors while the Military service members announce the Army Song. “First to fight, for the right, and to build the nations might, and the Army goes rolling along, Proud of all we have done, fighting til the battles won, and the Army goes rolling along, Then its high high hey, the Army’s on its way, count off the cadence loud and strong, For ever we go, you will always know that the Army goes rolling along.” This concludes the ceremony.

Lady GAGA:)
I love Lady Gaga, yes she is a very odd, but she isn't afraid to express herself and doesn't care what people think about her, which I think is something to look up too. I would never wear any of those crazy outfits it's a little too extreme for me but not caring hat people think is a quality I have been working on.
I found this quote by her today and I though that it was so true, and pretty hilarious:) It is honestly pretty good advice in my opinion...

Scary Situation!!!
On Wednesday I had to take my sister to airport and we left Waynesburg around 2:45. I was a little annoyed with her because it was a last minute trip and I would have to miss an important meeting, but I was the only one who could take her. As we were driving to the airport we heard the emergency alert for an extreme thunderstorm warning. Well where we were the sky was still blue, but where we heading, right infront of the airport, I could see that the sky was basically black. I didn't think much of it though, because I thought that it wouldn't effect me. My sister, however was freaking out because she was afraid that her plane was going to be delayed. As we got closer and closer to the airport, the weather got worse. There was lighting striking down everywhere and it had started to rain. Once we got to the airport I dropped my sister off, and headed home which I thought was in the opposite direction of the storm. On my way home all was quiet until I reached interstate 79, and that when the storm hit me. I swear I felt like I was driving through a hurricane! I literally could not see the white lines in front of me, it was raining so hard, and I was on top of my dashboard trying to see the road. It was so stressful because there was so many cars on the road and no one could see where they were going! I could barely see the brake lights of the cars around me and the wind was blowing so hard, and it was raining so hard that cars were just stopping on the interstate. I was all by myself, and this was my first experience with horrible weather, so my first thought was to pull off to the side of the road and wait for the storm to pass. My only problem was that I had to cross three lines of traffic and I couldn't see any of the cars around me! I just went for it and tried to judge as best I could, but eventually I got to the shoulder and waited. I was literally shaking I was so scared! I though someone was going o hit my car, or that I would be stuck there. I was just a scary and stressful situation. After ten minutes the rain slowed down enough that I could get back on the interstate, but the whole way home people, including me, were driving with their hazards on, and going 10 miles an hour on the interstate! Once I got home, I called my sister and she told me that the airport had lost power and that she was stuck in the train going to her gate, KARMA! Thankfully though her plane wasn't delayed!

So this morning I went in search of inspirational quotes...
Audrey Hepburn is such a classy Lady and I found this quote that I absolutely love!!!
...and it is something to keep in mind today:)
"For Attractive lips, speak words of kindness,
For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people,
For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry,
For Beautiful hair, let a child run their fingers through it once a day,
For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone.
People, more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed. Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of each of your arms. As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands, one for helping yourself and the other for helping others."

Peanut Butter Cookie Disaster
Writing my last blog about wanting to open a bakery, inspired me to try and bake something. As i was watching the Steeler game with my family, I started to crave something sweet. I went into the pantry and started rummaging around my mother's pantry for something that would satisfy my craving, and low and behold i came across a package of peanut butter cookies. The directions seemed easy enough for me to manage, 1 egg, vegetable oil, and water; there's no way i could mess that up, easy enough (or so i thought). I even found hershey kisses to put in the middle of each one, they were going to be so delicious.
So i preheat the oven, grab a bowl, get the ingredients that i need, and start to make my cookies. I threw in the packaged cookies, the egg, and the water only to find that i had no oil. After searching for a good 15 minutes in the kitchen for the oil, i realized that my dad had used the entire bottle for the deep frier. So before he started cooking i ran downstairs and grabbed 3 tablespoons of ridiculously hot oil out of the deep fryer, (probably my first mistake). After i made my dough i got out my cookie sheets and put tablespoon sized balls of the dough, 2 inches apart, just like the directions said, and set my timer for 8 minutes. I waited around in the kitchen for the timer to go off determined not to burn my cookies, but after 8 minutes they still looked raw, so i called in for backup, and asked my mom to come check them.
After she closely examined my cookies she told me that they were still raw because your suppose to flatten peanut butter cookies before you bake them, who knew? Well apparently everyone at my house knew that you were suppose to flatten these cookies except me, but no one said anything while i was making them. So my mom tells me to give them another minute to bake, and that they were still salvageable. One minute later i took out all 3 of my trays, and they were completely raw in the middle, and pitch black on the bottom, I ruined 30 cookies!!! So needless to say my bakery will not be serving peanut butter cookies:( and even when the recipe comes from a package i somehow mange to mess it up! But on the bright side, my sweet craving was satisfied by the 30 hershey kisses that i had unwrapped for the cookies and ate all by myself!

My Secret Ambition (which is no longer a secret)
So my major is Public Reltions, but secretly want to open my own bakery. I don't know if it's because of all of the bakery shows that I loyally watch on TLC, or just because I love cupcakes so much. I just think that baking looks like so much fun, and I absolutely love all things sweet, especially if their chocolate and covered in delicious icing! But I have a serious problem, I am a horrible baker. Believe me i have tried to bake but for some reason everything that I put in the oven either comes out burnt, or tasting completely horrible. So far the only success that I have had at baking so far has come from a box that says "just add water." Im working it on it though I actually managed to successfully make brownies yesterday without completely burning the edges, baby steps:) I keep trying baking recipes but so far so bad! I'm going to keep trying though and hopefully one day ill own my cute little bakery:)

Random Questions = Random Answers
So for our multimedia project we had to go out and interview people. Our task was to ask the person one news related questions and one random question, and then to post the most unique or interesting responses. Yes, life is pretty in pink, but ironically i got the most random answers from boys. I had a lot of fun with this project and I think that I got some truly original responses....

My First Blog Post EVER
So to explain a little about my blog I thought that I would start out by showing my inspiration for the title...
"I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles."
— Audrey Hepburn

I think that everyone has someone or something that they look to for inspiration when they feel like everything is going wrong. It may seem unorthodox to some but I always find myself searching quotes for Audrey Hepburn quotes, so I will be quoting her a lot:)
