My First Week with Mya

I have had Mya now for one whole week, and having a puppy is a lot harder than I expected! She literally chews up everything! She has already torn up one of my rugs, and is constantly chewing on my clothes. She is in this habit of chewing people's fingers and toes, and her little baby teeth are like razors when she bites you. I can definitely see my dad's point of college students not having time for a puppy, because she is definitely distracting when I am trying to do homework. I have to keep reminding myself that she is just a baby, she is only nine weeks old. I am trying to train her, but I do not consider her a quick learner. It is hard to have patience with her, but she is so cute that I can not stay mad at her for long, especially when she lets me dress her up in adorable outfits. We are still getting use to each other, and hopefully it will all work out, right now she only weighs 2 pounds!

Writing my first press release

I have not taken the Public Relations Writing and Production scourse yet, so when I was assigned to write a press release for the upcoming student media conference I was nervous. Much to my surprise, I found that writing a press release is not that complicated, especially when you have a script from the press release that was issued for the conference last year. Considering that I am a Public Relations major, and having a job in this field requires writing a lot of press releases, I find it very reasurring that my first experience with writing on was very pleasant and stress free. I hoping that the one's I write from now on will be the same experience, but we will see how that goes when I am not given a script:(

Why I am at School...

After an intense midterm week I feel like I need some inspiration to reming me why I am in college.
Audrey Hepburn puts it into perspective!

“A quality education has the power to transform societies in a single generation, provide children with the protection they need from the hazards of poverty, labor exploitation and disease, and given them the knowledge, skills, and confidence to reach their full potential.”

My new puppy!

I'm getting a new pet, and I am really excited about it! I always wanted one of this teacup puppies that are so small that you can put them in your purse, and carry them around. On Monday, I was searching for available puppies and I stumbled on the cutiest yorkiepoo(half yorkie and half poodle). Her name is Tabby, and she is only going to be 4 pounds fully grown. It was kind of an impulsive buy, but I always wanted a dog and I have to at home so i feel like I am definitely prepared to bring her home! I am going to pick her up on Friday morning in Ohio, and I have to drive 3 hours. She is well worth the drive though because she is so cute, and yes I am definitely going to put outfits on her as corny as the is!
I will post pictures of her as soon as I get her:My dad gave me the whole, "your a college student, your to busy to have a puppy." I determined to prove him wrong!

Photography Mid-term

For our Introduction to Photography mid-term we had to take a photograph in the style of a famous photographer, and write a paper about the photographer.
I choose to mimic the style of Henri Cartier Bresson.

A little bit of background information on him...

He was a french photographer considered by many to be the father of modern photojournalism. He is widely recognized as one of the greatest photographers of the Twentieth Century. His pictures and picture essays have been published in most of the world’s major magazines and his prints have hung in the leading art museums of the United States and Europe. He was also one of the founders and a former president of Magnum, a cooperative picture agency.
He had a very distinct style, and a subtle and sensitive eye for composition. He helped develop street photography, and elevated "snap shooting" to the level of a refined and disciplined art. He had a rare talent and became internationally famous for his uncanny ability to capture life on the run, and significant moments of human interaction.

He is quoted saying, "I prowled the streets all day, feeling very strung-up and ready to pounce, determined to ‘trap’ life, to preserve life in the act of living.”
I found this particularly difficult. I walked around Greene County and tried to take snapshots of people, but they always got irritated with me, or yelled at me wondering why I was "creeping around" taking pictures of them.
Finally, I was able to find a subject willing to let me take a picture of them, and this is what I came up with for my midterm...

My teacher said it was acceptable...lol:)
